Heal The World
There are times when I wonder what’s going on inside other people’s mind. Since the tropical storm ‘Ondoy’ hit Philippines causing a massive damage in most of Metro Manila, I’ve been reading news online to be updated of the latest happenings in this country and the other parts of the world. If only I have the capability to read minds, I’d truly understand why things are happening when I thought they are not suppose to. Once again, I’m living in a fantasy world thinking that everything can be perfect or at least things will turn out okay. But the recent events only show that I’m hoping for the impossible.
Some people take the news as it is and move on with their lives like as if nothing happened. Some would even say, as long as it doesn’t affect them, there’s no use worrying. But what if it doesn’t affect us now, but will affect us someday? Just like what happened over the weekend. Most people would say that the storm from last saturday was due to global warming. Aren’t we responsible for it too? Shouldn’t we do something about it now rather than wait for the next one to hit us again?
Sometimes, I wish I didn’t read fairy tales. Maybe I’ll be more of a realist now. And maybe I won’t feel bad about everything that’s going on around me.
In times like this, I can’t help but remember the song Heal the World. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone feels the same way as the singer and do something about it?
